We love sweet corn in my home! I don’t have to tell my girls twice to eat their vegetables when sweet corn is being served. It’s a homegrown taste that I like to have all year long.

“That is humongous!” my four- year-old exclaimed as I held up a tomato horn worm.
When it’s scorching hot, we are all less eager to work in the garden. Unless the girls are swimming, I get a list of heat complaints within five minutes of being outside. Despite the heat, it was time to go spud hunting (potato harvesting).
In Kansas, the rule of thumb is to plant potatoes on or near St. Patrick’s Day. We had bought our seed potatoes at the garden show this past year. The girls were digging through the different boxes of seed potatoes and spotted the purple potatoes at the exhibitor’s booth.
